Celta Mobile was developed as a strategic monetization project for Real Club Celta de Vigo, with Plus Sports responsible for the design and management of the initiative. The project opened a new revenue pathway for football clubs by transforming fan loyalty into a sustainable business model within the Spanish telecommunications market.

The Spanish telecom sector was characterized by low customer loyalty, representing a critical structural challenge for operators struggling to retain users and protect margins. At the same time, telecommunications remained a largely underdeveloped sponsorship category for most LaLiga clubs, with the exception of Real Madrid, FC Barcelona, and Atlético de Madrid. This reality limited commercial opportunities for clubs outside the top tier.

However, clubs such as Real Club Celta de Vigo stood out for the exceptional and long-term loyalty of their supporters, which remained stable regardless of sporting performance. In the case of Celta, periods of greater sporting difficulty further strengthened the emotional bond between the club and its fan base, activating engagement across the entire social structure of the club.

This behavior was identified by Plus Sports as a key strategic opportunity. Together with the telecommunications operator and the club, Plus Sports designed a sponsorship and activation plan with two clear objectives: to monetize the fan base as a valuable asset for both the club and the operator, and to implement a robust activation strategy that increased engagement across the club’s social community.

Celta Mobile offered competitive mobile and fiber services combined with exclusive content linked to Celta de Vigo’s identity, reinforcing fan affiliation while generating recurring revenue. The project demonstrated how loyalty-driven assets could be converted into effective business tools during a period when clubs faced increasing pressure to diversify income sources.

As one of the most emblematic institutions in the city of Vigo and the Galicia region, Real Club Celta de Vigo leveraged its strong identity, stable supporter base, and professional, forward-looking management to successfully develop an innovative initiative such as Celta Mobile, consolidating a replicable model for other clubs within the sports ecosystem.
